Lost or Stolen Debit Cards

Keep your debit card in a safe and secure location. Review account activity for any suspicious transactions.

If your debit card is lost, stolen or if you suspect suspicious activity please call one of the following numbers:

  • 1-800-406-9289 – Business hours
  • 1-800-472-3272 – Non-business hours

You will need to provide your account number, name, and address. A confirmation number will be provided.

  • After shutting down your debit card, please call your local branch the next business day to order a new card.

  • Memorize your PIN. Do not write it down or share your PIN.

  • Do not use ATMs that appear to be tampered with.

  • Do not enter your valuable debit card information (number, PIN, security code) on any internet sites you do not trust or that appear suspect (this includes telephone purchases).

Fraud Text Alerts

With text fraud alerts, if our system detects suspicious activity on your card, you will receive a text message with details about the suspected transaction. All you have to do is respond to the text with a "yes" or a "no" to confirm or deny the transaction.

All alerts will come from a 5 digit short code not a 10 digit phone number. You will never be asked for the 3 digit security code on the back of the card or your PIN.

What should I do when I receive a text message about fraud on my United Bank & Trust debit card?

  • If you receive a fraud text alert, respond “Yes” if the transaction was legitimate, respond “No” if the transaction is fraudulent, and respond “Stop” to opt out of receiving future fraud text alerts.

My United Bank & Trust debit card was declined, then I got a text. Is the text message legit?

  • If you are checking out and the transaction is declined because our fraud monitoring systems suspected it was fraudulent, we will send you a text message asking you to confirm or deny the transaction. Reply “Yes” to approve the transaction but then remember you’ll have to have the cashier rerun your card for payment.

Will my card be locked if I don’t respond to a text alert?

  • If you ignore a United Bank & Trust fraud alert and don’t approve or deny the transaction, your card may be blocked from making future transactions.
